How To Convince An English Colleague That His Country Has The Worst Cooking Possible ?

A co-worker of mine argues that fish & chips is a meal of choice and that Britain is a top-notch country in the “cuisine” industry because they have the mediatic and rude chef Gordon Ramsay cooking tedious overpriced meals for ignorant English middle-class people wanting to look posh.
How could I tell how wrong he is ?

There’s good and bad food in every country. Just as there are good and bad people in every country.
Try not to be so bigoted – the English can be great people on the whole and you seem to hate them!
Gordon Ramsey is not a good example of an English person – thankfully!
Where are you from anyway?

Gordon Ramsay is a bad example.. try Jamie Oliver.
Fish and Chips are disgusting, I don’t eat it anymore, only people that can’t afford anything else get fish and chips because they’re cheap. When people think of english food they automatically think of fish and chips.. =/
I think you’re the one in the ‘wrong’, not all middle-class English people are ignorant. You’re making Americans look bad, [assuming you're a fat American? you'd know all about food wouldn't you!]

You know, British food is better than you may think. For a start, we all know that Gordon Ramsay’s crap, but American stuff is crap too (not saying you’re American, just giving an example.) The British have lots of amazing food, like toad in a hole, cakes, pie, shepard’s pie, sunday roast. I.m not saying we’re the best, but we’re certainly not the worst.

You’re both wrong. England isn’t the best or the worst.

at least we are not fat lazy-arsed american.
