I have been cooking them in a slow cooker on high heat. This is my second pot and the skin just cracks.

The proper way to prevent that is simply soak your beans overnite, and cook then the next day.
Old fashioned, but it works!

cooked too long. I like them that way.

Soak them over night first then cook them on low.

If you cook them too long the skins will peel. Also are you using salt to season them with. And try soaking them overnight.

you have to cook them slow don’t let them boil
