I Am Creating My Own Cooking Show Online. Are There Any Tips?

After years of doing live demos, I have these tips.
1. Have the finish product ready before you start your demo.
2. Have everything pre-measured and in order of use off to the side.
3. Know your recipe by heart. That means making it a couple times and pretending you are doing the actual demo.
4. Keep your recipe close where you can refer to it when you must.
5. Some time by having parts of certain recipes already done. For example when the recipe calls for whipped cream, have the cream already mixed. Or if you must separate eggs, have it done already.
6. Make sure to keep the line a site clear. When you use a dish, move it out of sight.
7. You want to keep a clean appearance. If your hair is long, tie it back. Never touch your face, hair, or nose…lick your fingers, or use the same tasting spoon twice. If you have an itch, ignore it. If you do happen to do so, wash your hands.
I hope these tips help. Let me know how it goes!

Be happy and polite always.
If you taste make sure to edit it out.
If you mess up edit it out.
Be very specific about quantity, have it all premeasured.
Show the techniques people need to use. If they need to cut skin from a fish show them how. For chopping show them how. Lots of people now don’t know the basics.
Also knowing your terms helps, but I have recently stumbled across a woman on youtube that has English as her second language and messes up the terms, but makes up for it with the visuals.
If possible do the measurements in metric as well even if you don’t use it. People from Europe may wish to try making your dishes. If you don’t use metric for the show then at least have the option of metric recipes online.

well, i really love Rachael Ray but she moves her hands around so much it’s sometimes distracting. so i would say don’t move your hands around so much when you talk. and those over the stove images don’t always work cuzz of the steam so if you can figure a way to do those shots without the fog that would be good. good luck :)

Try to be specific, precise, be clean and do varity of cultures

Be sure to state how much. I noticed on the Food Network that the people say, “Add a pinch of salt,” or, “Just a splash of pepper.” Those phrases do not help.
Also, be sure to write down what the ingredients are on the screen. Some shows go so quickly that you do not have enough time to write the ingredients.
