I am trying to learn to be healthier all around and have decided to go organic. Any tips, hints, alerts, etc?

frying foods in certain oils…
Extra virgin olive oil is great!!! But the second it starts “burning” it becomes more toxic than not. Be careful about what cooking oils you use and to what temp you cook them! (I use cooking sprays and top with oil at the end, with herbs and spices…lol…reminds me of italian bread olive oil dipping spices)
Another thing is…organic isn’t all organic. Do research. Some foods are coming from out of country and listed in the grocers organic sections, so buyer beware! Know what country it’s coming from and what it’s requirements for organic are.
As for cooking, there are always great recipes (and it’s a highly addictive site) at Grouprecipes.com. I find myself logging in regularly to have more friends and the best recipes out of anyone else (come to find out my best recipe was not even really a recipe at all, but an idea of what to do with leftover pie crust, rather than throwing it in the trash…lol).
You can make just about the same foods as usual with organic ingredients, if you have a creative mind, you can create incredible meals ^_^ It takes time, kinda like teaching a Sim on The Sims how to cook…lol…I always notice that I get more creative and more understanding of the cooking process as the years go by!
Read up as much as you can on cooking. The more you learn, the more you’ll advance your cooking.
There are many Raw or Raw & Living recipes as well, if that interests you, all over the web.http://www.fromsadtoraw.com/RawRecipes.h…http://www.rawguru.com/recipe36.html
Ok, so I just added the second link as a tease ^_^
here’s to creativity and organic cooking! *cheers*
Good luck!

Go to your library and check the cook book section.
I haven’t looked for organic books recently. Several years ago (25yrs? 30 yrs?) Jane Kinderlehrer wrote a column in Prevention Magazine on cooking. She also wrote two of my favorite cookbooks: Confessions of a Sneaky Organic Cook and Cooking With Love and Wheat Germ. I found both those books extremely useful for setting up a healthier kitchen.
I wouldn’t expect a lot of libraries to still have her books on their shelves, but you might be able to get them through Interlibrary Loan. I searched Amazon.com. They are offering used copies of these titles for sale.
