Wow! There are so many things you can do with a rice cooker! Been there, too! Also, if you have one of those tiny dorm room frigs and a toaster or small toaster oven, that is all you will need.
*You can heat up any canned item like soups or packaged meals from grocery stores, that are cheaper than going out.
*You can make rice, buy a german or kielbasa sausage (keep in small frig), and slice part of it into the rice. Buy one of those paper containers of chicken stock, and cook the rice in stock instead of water. Instant meal.
*You can add one teaspoon of butter (keep extra in the frig) and stir up some scrambled eggs, add either some left over kielbasa sausage, or keep an can of spam (store xtra in frig), and put about 1/4 into the eggs.
*You can make a home made soup. Add stock, buy a bag of mixed veggies, cook on low, and keep a bag of of some egg noodles, and add a handful or two. Simmer about 20 minutes, add salt and pepper.
*You can make mac and cheese in a rice steamer.
*Buy a can of baked beans and add some of that kielbasa sausage slices.
*Keep a loaf of wheat bread in your frig. Bread lasts longer in the frig. Buy a tub of butter/margerine. Always have toast with your meals to keep fuller. Keep a jar of peanut butter and jam around, too. They never get old.
*You can even buy some cheese slices and keep in the frig. And, you can make a grilled cheese sandwich in the rice cooker.
*You can cook bacon in the rice cooker. Then scramble eggs, and make toast in the toaster. I even made an omelette, just cook on low heat! Packaged hashbrowns. Also, oatmeal.
Too many to mention here.
Enjoy!

cooked rice can be used as a basic for fried rice coat in a bit of oil add some meat or shrimp or whatever of choice and a beaten egg .
you could also stir in to cooked rice a tin of condensed soup of flavor desired mushroom cream of celery etc and add any veggies or meat you can afford. Experiment and eat your mistakes .
cooked rice is a great leftover you can add to soups or stir fries or stews etc. even good with a bit of sugar and cinnamon although Italian rice cooked in milk is the best for rice pudding but plain as above with some raisins is passable

you can cook rice and beans..if you get frozen veggies and beans it will be even easier. If you like spices, experiment with different spices.
You can even make noodles in the rice cooker.
If you can find quinoa, you can cook it in the rice cooker. It is extremely healthy and will keep you full for a long time.

I do this thing where I add chinese sausage to the rice as it’s cooking. It flavors it really nicely and is soooo good and simple. Then after, you can use either butter or soy sauce for condiments. And don’t forget to salt the water the rice cooks in. I get the chinese sausage at global foods, but I’m sure other types would work just as well.

It’s amazing what you can do with a rice cooker. Here are a couple really good links with some simple recipes you can do.http://www.sallyskitchen.com/http://www.recipezaar.com/cookbook.php?b…http://recipes.suite101.com/article.cfm/…

When I lived in a dorm, I had an old coffee pot. Most of the time it cooked pork and beans, mac and cheese, and occasionally mashed potatos. It could never be used for coffee again (those beans killed it!) but it was a god-send!
